April 27, 2006

COLUMBIA, SC - South Carolina junior Renaldo Balkman has entered his name for the 2006 NBA Draft, but he will not hire an agent during this time so he can come back to South Carolina for his senior year if he so decides.

Renaldo Balkman's Statement
"After consulting with Coach Odom and the NBA Advisory Committee, I have decided to enter my name in the 2006 NBA Draft. I have not nor do I intend to retain an agent or any representative which would jeopardize my NCAA eligibility. It is my hope that I will be invited to the NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Orlando in June. Until a final decision is made, I will concentrate on my academics and improving my basketball skills."

USC Head Coach Dave Odom's Statement
"Renaldo and I have spoken about his decision on several occasions and I am both comfortable and supportive of his decision to enter his name in the 2006 NBA Draft. He understands the importance of not retaining an agent or representative during the process. He has shown great maturity in dealing with his decision. Our staff will remain available to help him both academically and athletically."
