Gamecocks Slip to Ninth After Round Two at SEC Championship April 21, 2007
ST. SIMONS, Ga. - The South Carolina men's golf team is ninth place heading into the final round of play at the SEC Championship, played at Sea Island Golf Club (Par 70 -- 6,991 yards). The Gamecocks shot a team total of 297 in Saturday's second round as every golfer improved his score from the first round. The Gamecocks own a two-round total of 304-297=601 (+41). Sophomore Florian Fritsch continues to lead the South Carolina effort, sharing 13th place after 36 holes. Fritsch dropped one stroke from his first round total to fire a 73 Saturday. His two-day total is 74-73-147 (+7). Junior Warren Thomas sits two shots back of Fritsch and in a tie for 20th individually. Thomas owns a two-round total of 75-74=149 (+9). Junior Mark Anderson shares 36th place with a total score of 77-75=152 (+12). Sophomore Allen Koon posted a second-round 76 and sits alone in 46th. Koon's total score is 78-76=154 (+14). Freshman George Bryan IV shaved five strokes off his first round by carding a second-round 75. Bryan shares 47th place with a two-round 80=75=155 (+15). Tennessee owns the team lead after posting the best round of the day at 283 (+24). The Volunteers lead second-place Alabama by two shots. Auburn's Patton Kizzire is currently the top individual with a total score of 72-69=141 (+1). The final 18 holes of the championship will be played Sunday.
