HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Sophomore Paul Woodbury won individual medalist honors and led South Carolina's Garnet Team to victory at the Coker College Intercollegiate at Hartsville Country Club. The Gamecocks took the team title by 15 strokes over the host Cobras. South Carolina opened up a nine-stroke lead after day one as three of its four players scored under par. Coker closed the gap in the second round with three players at par, but it was not enough to overcome the initial deficit.

Woodbury led the field with 11 birdies over two rounds, shooting 69 and 68 to finish at 137 (-7). Junior Florian Fritsch was just one stroke back in second place, carding rounds of 71 and 67. He tied Woodbury for the tournament lead in par 4 scoring at 3.90.

Junior Baker Elmore and sophomore Bryan Miller finished tied for 13th at 146 (+2) for the tournament. Elmore shot 74 and 72, respectively, while Miller opened with a 70 (-2) before battling to a 76 on Tuesday. He was second in the event with 27 pars over 36 holes.

Members of the South Carolina golf team will be back in action on Sun., Oct. 21, at the Isleworth Invitational in Windermere, Fla.
