Former Gamecock Mike Gustavson Signs MLS Contract With San Jose Earthquakes

Former South Carolina goalkeeper Mike Gustavson has signed a contract with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer's West Division. Gustavson, the Gamecock career freshman saves leader (88), led Carolina to a 12-7-2 overall record and the Conference USA Championship during the 2005 season, followed by an 11-5-1 record the following year. Gustavson becomes the third South Carolina goalkeeper to sign an MLS contract, joining Henry Ring (Chicago Fire, 2001-04) and Brad Guzan (Chivas USA, 2005-present) in the league. more
