COLUMBIA, S.C. - For the first time since 2003, the South Carolina Gamecock softball team (38-26) is ranked in a final national poll. The Gamecocks finished at No. 24 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. South Carolina was one of five SEC teams to rank in the final poll.

The Garnet and Black posted an impressive season after winning the Columbia Regional of the NCAA Championships and advancing to the NCAA Super Regional in Evanston, Ill. It marked the first regional win for South Carolina since 1997, and the first Super Regional in school history.

South Carolina was ranked earlier in the season, the week of March 5-11. The Gamecocks were ranked 24th, making their first appearance in a national poll since 2004.
