Katarina M. Petrovic is in her second season as assistant head coach for the University of South Carolina women's tennis but she is already a part of the Gamecock tennis family. Petrovic lettered at Carolina from 1998-2001.

Petrovic, 27, joined the staff in September of 2004 after serving as an instructor at the Michael-Ann Russell Community Center.

A native of Valjevo, Yugoslavia, Petrovic came to USC in the fall of 1998 and made an immediate impact on the Gamecock tennis program. She was voted Southeast Region Rookie of the Year and earned All-SEC honors, winning nine of her 10 matches to begin her career at USC.

As a sophomore, Petrovic earned team MVP honors, was selected to the NCAA Championship draw and reached an individual IT national ranking of No. 13, the highest recorded individual ranking in school history. Petrovic continued to lead the Gamecocks her junior and senior seasons, and finished her career in the No. 9 spot in career doubles wins with a 69-34 record and the No. 11 spot for overall wins with 134-92. She was also a member of the SEC Honor Roll.

"We are really excited about having Katarina back as a member of the Gamecock tennis program," said head coach Arlo Elkins. "She made a significant impact to the program as a team leader on and off the court and we look forward to her having the same impact as an assistant coach."

Petrovic is married to Stevan Petrovic and they reside in Columbia.
