EVANSTON, Ill. -- South Carolina's women's tennis team posted an impressive first day of results at the Wildcat Invitational on Friday in Evanston, Ill. The Gamecocks won every match, advancing two doubles teams to the semifinals of flight A and one in flight B while winning all six singles contests.

The day began with Natasa Vuckovic and Ana Marija Zubori winning 8-4 versus Abajian/McCarthy from Illinois in flight A and then they posted an 8-2 triumph over Anunovic/Gambrell of Wisconsin. In the same flight, Miljana Jocic and Gira Schofield were 8-3 winners against Oklahoma's Huet/Rodan and they also beat Ferrazzi/Koprivica from Minnesota 8-5 in the quarters.

In flight B of the doubles competition, Suzanna Mansour and Ashley Miller teamed up for an 8-1 victory in their match with Kebler/Lonergan from Michigan State. Their next match was an 8-6 win over Milinkovic/Gustafson of DePaul.

The top singles flight saw Schofield earn a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 victory from Alessandra Ferrazzi of Minnesota, while Zubori posted a 6-1, 7-5 win against Wisconsin's Alaina Trgovich. Zubori trailed 5-1 in the second set before storming back to win the next six games.

Vuckovic needed little time to defeat Aleksandra Markovic 6-1, 6-3 of Wisconsin in the B flight, and Jocic recovered from a 6-3 loss in the first set to upend Jessica Seyferth, also from Wisconsin, 6-2, 6-1 in the final two.

In flight D, Miller also came back after losing the first set to Minnesota's Peta Forsyth for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory, and Mansour won quickly versus Ally Wickham from Michigan State by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
