Women's Tennis Goes Undefeated on Day One of Wildcat Invitational

Highlights: Ashley Miller & Miljana Jocic The day began with Natasa Vuckovic and Ana Marija Zubori winning 8-4 versus Abajian/McCarthy from Illinois in flight A and then they posted an 8-2 triumph over Anunovic/Gambrell of Wisconsin. In the same flight, Miljana Jocic and Gira Schofield were 8-3 winners against Oklahoma's Huet/Rodan and they also beat Ferrazzi/Koprivica from Minnesota 8-5 in the quarters. In flight B of the doubles competition, Suzanna Mansour and Ashley Miller teamed up for an 8-1 victory in their match with Kebler/Lonergan from Michigan State. Their next match was an 8-6 win over Milinkovic/Gustafson of DePaul. The top singles flight saw Schofield earn a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 victory from Alessandra Ferrazzi of Minnesota, while Zubori posted a 6-1, 7-5 win against Wisconsin's Alaina Trgovich. Zubori trailed 5-1 in the second set before storming back to win the next six games. Vuckovic needed little time to defeat Aleksandra Markovic 6-1, 6-3 of Wisconsin in the B flight, and Jocic recovered from a 6-3 loss in the first set to upend Jessica Seyferth, also from Wisconsin, 6-2, 6-1 in the final two. In flight D, Miller also came back after losing the first set to Minnesota's Peta Forsyth for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory, and Mansour won quickly versus Ally Wickham from Michigan State by scores of 6-1, 6-1. The Gamecocks will look to extend their 12-0 record thus far at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday when play resumes at 9 a.m. CT. Singles Matches Doubles Matches
