COLUMBIA, S.C.- The women's cross country team travels to Gainesville, Fla. Monday, Oct. 4 to participate in the Southeastern Conference Championship.

Sophomore Jenny Lake will lead South Carolina. Lake has won three of the past four meets the Gamecocks have run this year, setting a course record in all three. Lake also earned SEC female cross country athlete of the week honors. Senior Kinsey Eschenburg has been the second Gamecock to cross the finish line all season. Junior Mary Wright, sophomore Mary Claire Utsey, and freshmen Lauren Paige and Shay Shelton have been constant top-five finishers for the Gamecocks.

Arkansas will be the team to beat. The Lady Razorbacks are shooting for their fifth straight SEC title.

The women will start their 6-kilometer race at 9:00 a.m. FOX Sports Net South will recap the 2002 SEC Cross Country Championships on SEC-TV Weekly Thursday, Nov 7, at 6:30 p.m.
